How to See How Many Consumers Match Your Prescreen Criteria Before You Buy a List

Run a count before you buy. A count, also called a universe or count-only run, tells you how many consumers meet your credit criteria. In CRS LeadsIQ, you set criteria in the CRS Portal and see the matched count in about 20 seconds. You confirm the count and the invoice before you buy the list.
With CRS, lenders build prescreened lists in LeadsIQ. Set criteria across 50+ credit attributes and see how many of 280M+ US consumers match. Then buy the list with phone and email appended.
How do you run a prescreen count in LeadsIQ?
- Log in to the CRS Portal. Choose LeadsIQ.
- Set your credit criteria. Pick a FICO or VantageScore band, then add balance, utilization and late-payment filters that match your underwriting.
- Set your geography. Choose the states where you are licensed to lend.
- Add attributes. Choose the data to append, such as mobile phone, landline and email.
- Run a quick count. The matched count returns in about 20 seconds.
- Adjust and recount. Widen or narrow your criteria until the count fits your offer and budget.
- Confirm and export. Confirm the count and the invoice amount, then export the list. A full export can take up to a few hours.
What does a count tell you?
- Your audience size. The number of consumers on file who meet your criteria.
- Budget fit. Say your criteria match 50,000 consumers and your budget covers 30,000 mailers. Tighten the criteria before you buy, not after.
- Room to test. LeadsIQ has no minimum order size, so you can buy a small test run first.
How do you widen or narrow your criteria?
| To change the count | Try this |
|---|---|
| Raise it | Widen the score band, add states where you are licensed to lend, or relax a debt limit |
| Lower it | Tighten the score band, add an exclusion, or cap utilization |
Change one criterion at a time and recount, so you can see what moved the number. CRS does not recommend cutoffs. Set them from your own underwriting, and review your selection criteria for fair lending with your counsel.
What does a prescreened list cost?
You pay for the list you buy.
LeadsIQ pricing is per pull, plus a monthly platform fee. You see the invoice amount before you export.
When should you test with OffersIQ instead?
Use OffersIQ when you already have the consumers and want to know how many fit an offer. Send your list by batch, and OffersIQ returns match or no match for each record. You pay only for hits, and no credit data comes back.
LeadsIQ is for companies building a prescreened list for a firm offer of credit. Teams that will not make a firm offer use OffersIQ. To add contact and credit data to your own list, see our guide to enriching your customer list.
What should you settle before you buy?
Prescreened marketing falls under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. CRS does not give legal advice. Settle these questions with your counsel before you buy a list:
- What firm offer will matched consumers receive, and on what terms?
- Which criteria select the list, and how will you document them?
- How will your mail and email offers present the prescreen opt-out notice?
The primary sources are the CFPB’s Regulation V, section 1022.54, and the FTC’s guide to prescreened offers. CRS customers complete compliance vetting before their first pull.
Frequently asked questions
Does a quick count affect anyone’s credit?
No. A quick count posts no inquiry on any consumer’s credit file. It returns a number, not names. If you buy the list, everyone on it receives your firm offer of credit.
How long does a count take?
About 20 seconds. Once you confirm, the full export can take up to a few hours.
Is there a minimum list size?
No. LeadsIQ has no minimum order size, so you can test a small run before a full campaign.
What criteria can I count on?
LeadsIQ offers 50+ credit attributes. They include FICO and VantageScore bands, balances by loan type, utilization, late payments and geography. Ask your CRS contact for the full attribute list.
Who can use LeadsIQ?
Any company that makes a firm offer of credit, such as a lender, credit union or bank. Teams that will not make a firm offer use OffersIQ to check leads they already have.
